Questions people ask

What is a home loan balance transfer?

It means shifting your existing home loan from your current bank or NBFC to another lender that offers a lower interest rate, a top-up loan or better terms.

When should I transfer my home loan?

When another lender offers a clearly lower rate, especially in the first half of your tenure when most of the EMI goes towards interest.

Will my EMI go down?

Yes, if the new rate is lower or you choose a longer tenure. The actual saving depends on the outstanding amount, remaining tenure and transfer charges.

Can I get a top-up loan?

Many lenders offer a top-up along with the transfer, subject to property value, repayment track record, income and CIBIL score.

What does a balance transfer cost?

Usually the new lender's processing fee, legal and valuation fees and mortgage (MOD) charges. Floating rate home loans have no foreclosure charge for individuals.

Is a transfer always worth it?

Only when the interest you save is more than the total transfer cost. We calculate both before you apply.
